Millet & Buckwheat with Sunflower Seeds

This is millet and buckwheat recipe is a favorite of mine; it is very yummy and mostly alkaline.  The buckwheat with its full flavour enhances the very light flavour of the millet.

There is a little Russian store in my neighborhood that has the best products (they prefer organic) and prices where I buy this brand of buckwheat groats: Russkoe Pole Buckwheat Groats, 31.7 oz

Sunflower Seeds

Delicious nutty sunflower seeds are a popular snack that is undervalued.  They may be small but sunflower seeds are a dense source of nutrients and full of extraordinary health benefits. They are for sure a healthy superfood.  They offer a nice texture to this warming buckwheat meal.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup sunflower seeds
  • 3/4 cup millet
  • 1/4 cup buckwheat
  • 1/2 tsp Himalayan salt
  • 2 1/2 cups water

Instructions

  • Dry sauté the sunflowers seeds in a pan with a tight-fitting lid.
  • Add the buckwheat and millet after a few minutes.
  • Sauté until golden brown.
  • Add the Himalayan salt and water.

  • Bring to a boil and cover with a tight lid.
  • Simmer until all the water is absorbed – approximately 40 minutes.
