Millet and Buckwheat

This is millet and buckwheat recipe is a favorite of mine; it is very yummy and mostly alkaline.  The buckwheat with its full flavour enhances the very light flavour of the millet.
Gluten-free millet provides a host of nutrients, has a sweet nutty flavour, and is considered to be one of the most digestible and non-allergenic grains available.  It is one of the few grains that is alkalizing to the body.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup sunflower seeds
  • 3/4 cup millet
  • 1/4 cup buckwheat
  • 1/2 tsp Himalayan salt
  • 2 1/2 cups water

Instructions

  • Dry sauté the sunflowers seeds in a pan with a tight-fitting lid.
  • Add the buckwheat and millet after a few minutes.
  • Sauté until golden brown.
  • Add the Himalayan salt and water.

  • Bring to a boil and cover with a tight lid.
  • Simmer until all the water is absorbed – approximately 40 minutes.
