Buckwheat with Sunflower seeds Is Warming

This buckwheat recipe is simple and nutritious!  It is gluten-free and is not a grain, it is a seed.  Also, it is warming and so great for the winter.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sunflower seeds
  • 1 cup buckwheat groats
  • 1/2 tsp Himalayan salt
  • 2 cups water
  • 2-5 mushrooms optional

Instructions

  • Dry sauté the sunflowers seeds in a sauce pan.
  • Add the buckwheat after a few minutes.
  • Sauté until golden brown.
  • Add the salt and water.
  • Bring to a boil and cover with a tight lid.
  • Simmer until all the water is absorbed – approximately 40 minutes.
  • Serve with vegetables. This tastes delicious with the simple addition of sauteed mushrooms.
  • Optional: Slice the mushrooms and sautee in a pan with some salt to taste and then sprinkle over the dish when ready to serve your buckwheat with sunflower seeds.
