Magnificent Mushroom Gravy Recipe

If you like mushrooms, you will love this mushroom gravy recipe! It is very good for bean or nut burgers.

  • 3 cups cremini (brown) mushrooms or white
  • 1 1/2 cups onions
  • 1-4 cloves garlic
  • 2-4 Tbsp almond oil
  • 1/2 tsp marjoram
  • 1/2 tsp thyme
  • 4 tsp arrowroot plus 1/2 cup water to mix together
  • 1 cup water
  • 2-3 tsp tamari or 1-2 tsp spike seasoning
  • black pepper to taste


  • Rinse and slice the mushrooms.
  • Finely chop the onions and the garlic.
  • Sauté the onion in 2 tablespoons of oil on medium-high heat until rich golden brown
  • Add the garlic to the pan and sauté on medium-low heat for 2 minutes.
  • Now add the mushrooms and sauté till they are golden brown.
  • Add the marjoram and thyme on low-medium heat.
  • Add 1 cup of water to the mushroom mixture and stir.
  • Add the arrowroot to 1/2 a cup of water and mix together until smooth.
  • Now add the arrowroot mixture to the pan stirring continually till smooth.
  • Then add more water until it is thick and has the creamy consistency of gravy.
  • Add tamari or Spike and black pepper to taste.
  • Now enjoy this your mushroom grav recipe.
